They hop out of bed at my first request, not dallying as they so often do.<\/p>\n
They whisper encouraging words and rub my chin.<\/p>\n
I like it when they rub my chin.<\/p>\n

Walk in the backyard to potty.<\/p>\n
So many other things to do, and they let me do them.<\/p>\n
Then zoom into the house through the doggie door.<\/p>\n
Straight to the bedroom where\u00a0they let me in the bed.<\/p>\n
Under the covers.<\/p>\n
Sleep until daylight.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
An egg for breakfast.<\/p>\n
Just learned of this tradition from Mr. Guinness.<\/p>\n
A fine tradition, although I would prefer an egg to myself.<\/p>\n
And a full bowl of kibble to chase the egg down.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mommy doesn’t leave for work today.<\/p>\n
So I don’t have to watch at the storm door as she drives off.<\/p>\n
And the Man is home today.<\/p>\n
So I can sit in his lap and gaze out the window as he works.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Lunchtime comes quickly.<\/p>\n
They give me kibble, forgetting they’re weaning me from lunch.<\/p>\n
How excellent is that that they forgot!?<\/p>\n
I love my crunchy kibble.<\/p>\n

Sunny day and blue skies and dappled spots of warm on the lawn.<\/p>\n
Hellos to Daisy and Winchester next door who are mercifully quiet, today.<\/p>\n
Hellos to Doc and Lacie on the other side.<\/p>\n
A fine canine neighborhood, this.<\/p>\n
Katelyn and Ashlyn behind us come home from school with a friend.<\/p>\n
They ask me over to play, and I get to go.<\/p>\n
Something we’ve all been asking for a very long time.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Dinner punctually at 5:00.<\/p>\n
Not 5:05 like when The Man is in charge, and I have to remind him of the time.<\/p>\n
Kibble with apples and cheese, and can you believe it, another egg!<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Chase and fetch and a long walk in the woods.<\/p>\n
And untethered zooms across the soccer field.<\/p>\n
What is it with these tethers, anyway?<\/p>\n
Play with the soft orange kitty down the street.<\/p>\n
She’s not so scary, after all.<\/p>\n
Zoomies around the house when we get home.<\/p>\n
And a tasty bison bone to chew on.<\/p>\n

A soft, fuzzy bed on the couch.<\/p>\n
Some more zoomies.<\/p>\n
Some rolling around on my back on the carpet.<\/p>\n
I am getting so sleepy.<\/p>\n
And would you believe it, I get to fall asleep in their bed deep under the covers!<\/p>\n
