What follow are several stories of that vacation&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<hr style=\"margin: 5% 20% 5% 20%;\" \/>\n<p>I suppose we should have been disappointed that we slept in. The two-hour <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadascapital.gc.ca\/celebrate\/winterlude\">Winterlude<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadascapital.gc.ca\/celebrate\/winterlude\/calendar-events\/rogers-one-block-challenge\">One-Block Challenge<\/a> had started at 8:00am, and we would arrive an hour later. But no, we were not disappointed. What luscious luxury it was to sleep long.<\/p>\n<p>After a breakfast of fried eggs and toast, Dad and Khadija drove us from their condo to downtown <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ottawa\">Ottawa<\/a>. Our original plan was to take the bus, but what a lazy luxury it was to be chauffeured.<\/p>\n<p>And it was yet another luxury when they drove right past <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadascapital.gc.ca\/celebrate\/winterlude\/crystal-garden-confederation-park\">Confederation Park<\/a> (our nominal destination) and dropped us off instead at a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timhortons.com\/ca\/en\/index.html\">Tim Horton&#8217;s<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We hopped out of the car, adjusted our hats and mittens and sinched up our backpacks, as they pulled away from the curb and merged back into the morning traffic.<\/p>\n<p>And we stepped into the coffee shop to have two large cups with cream.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-bottom: 3%;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.timhortons.com\/ca\/en\/menu\/hot-cup-sizes.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/augerhandle.net\/blogs\/jumpingfish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/cup-size-changeENV2.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Cup size changeENV2\" width=\"250\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We shift now to our recent trip to Ottawa, a trip from which we recently returned.
