{"id":2127,"date":"2012-05-05T21:54:09","date_gmt":"2012-05-06T03:54:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/augerhandle.net\/blogs\/jumpingfish\/?p=2127"},"modified":"2012-05-05T22:07:21","modified_gmt":"2012-05-06T04:07:21","slug":"kalalau-trail-head","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/augerhandle.net\/blogs\/jumpingfish\/2012\/05\/05\/kalalau-trail-head\/","title":{"rendered":"Kalalau Trail Head"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kalalautrail.com\/information.html\">The trail<\/a> starts where <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaiihighways.com\/photos-Kuhio-Hwy.htm\">the highway<\/a>\u00a0ends, just beyond Waikanaloa Cave at <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ha%CA%BBena_State_Park\">Ha\u2018ena State Park<\/a>\u00a0where the sheer cliffs and deep valleys of the Na Pali coast begin.<\/p>\n<p>We stood briefly gazing out on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaiiweb.com\/kauai\/ke-e-beach.html#detaileddescription\">Ke\u2018e Beach<\/a>. It was raining. There were puddles on the ground. The leaves of the trees glistened and dripped. We pulled our hoods over our heads.<\/p>\n<p>The trail climbs away from the beach, up boulders and rocks, into the rain forest just beyond where we were standing.
